Elgin AAC Club Championships 2027

Each age group competes over four events to collect points. The athlete with the most points in each age group then goes through to the final event of the day, so the busiest and most consistent performers across the four events are the ones who earn their shot at the title.

The final event is a handicapped 100m race based on each athlete's season best. Whoever wins that race is the club champion for the year. The reigning champion going into 2026 is Abigail Scott.

A handicap race sets athletes off on adjusted starts that reflect their season best times, so the finishing order is about the run on the day rather than raw speed. It makes the final a genuine contest across the whole age group and usually produces a close, noisy finish.

The day is run as Elgin Amateur Athletics Club's own club championships and is aimed at the club's athletes and their age groups. If you are not sure whether you or your child are eligible to enter, contact the organiser through the EntryCentral page before signing up.

Once the competition is over, everyone heads to Moray Bowling Club for a party. The afternoon includes the awards presentation where the kids receive their trophies, a raffle and party games, so families are encouraged to stay on and celebrate together.
