The Ekiden 36 is a marathon run by teams of six, starting from the Hall des expositions de Belle Isle in Châteauroux. The route covers the official marathon distance of 42.195 km in six relay legs of 5, 10, 5, 10, 5 and 7.195 km, each runner handing over to the next. Clubs, companies and groups of friends share the distance, and the organisers keep the day inside a 4 h 45 limit by starting the sixth runner at 3 h 45 if the fifth has not yet come through. Entry is capped at 555 teams and a paella meal can be ordered with the entry for after the finish.

Yes. Entries are made online through Klikego, except for clubs, companies and public administrations, which may enter using the paper entry form.
No entry is accepted after 7 November 2026 at 17:00. The standard price applies up to and including 1 November, and a supplement is added for entries made between 2 and 7 November 2026.
No, the relay marathon is not a qualifying event for the French Championships.
If the fifth runner has not arrived after 3 h 45, the organisers start the sixth runner so the event stays inside its overall limit, with a maximum race time of 4 h 45.
Accommodation is available nearby, including the Appart'Hôtel Saint-Denis, the Best Western Plus Hôtel Colbert, the Hôtel Continental and the Camping de Belle-Isle.
