The dsm-firmenich Maastricht Marathon brings the Long Course Weekend Netherlands to a close with a road race through the rolling hills and open countryside of South Limburg. The course has a rolling profile and runs on tarmac, winding past farmland and rural views before returning to Maastricht, where the day starts and finishes. Runners choose between a marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K, with the marathon, 10K and 5K setting off in the morning and the half marathon at midday. Maastricht sits close to both the Belgian and German borders, so the day carries a genuine cross-border atmosphere, and the city's historic streets, terraces and regional food are waiting at the finish.
