The course follows the Leeds and Liverpool Canal towpath with some woodland and field sections. It's an out-and-back route that is mostly flat with some locks (3-Rise and 5-Rise Locks). The surface is good underfoot on the towpath.
Facilities include paid parking nearby, secure bag storage, toilets, and an event village.
