Yes, this is a high-altitude event with the courses running above 3,000 metres. Acclimatisation activities are built into the programme in the days before race day to help runners adjust to the altitude. Arriving early and sleeping a few nights in the mountains makes a real difference.
Distance changes are subject to availability, since the field is small and entries are limited. Contact the organiser as early as possible if you want to move up or down a distance, and note that the age limits and prices differ between routes.
Drink stations, nutrition stations and medical assistance are provided on the routes, and volunteers marshal the course. A bag drop is available at the event base in Lohajung.
April in the Garhwal Himalaya brings cold nights and mild days, with a real chance of snow at higher elevations, rain, and strong wind on the ridges. Layers, a waterproof jacket and the ability to keep moving in poor visibility are essential.
