Clwb Rhedeg Pontardawe Running Club runs this annual Christmas fun run over 5 km on countryside paths around the town. The route leaves the Alloy Industrial Estate and moves off-road through a park and along a riverside path past the Riverside Centre before joining the canal towpath. Runners cross Herbert Street, pass through an underpass and continue along a paved off-road path by shops, a leisure centre and a school, meet the canal at Trebanos and follow the River Tawe to the finish at The Pontardawe Inn (Y Gwachel). Numbers are collected at the finish pub, finishers receive a commemorative medal and a bottle of water, and the morning closes with a prize giving, mulled wine and mince pies. Fancy dress is encouraged, with prizes for the best costume and spot prizes for certain finishing positions such as 10th, 25th and 40th. There is no chip timing, but a finishing position is recorded, and entrants must be 18 or older.

No. The event is a community fun run and is open to everyone aged 18 or over. Entry fees are listed at both UKA member and non-member rates, so affiliated runners can claim the reduced price.
Fancy dress is encouraged but not compulsory. There are prizes for the best fancy dress, so many runners turn up in Christmas costumes.
Every finisher receives a commemorative medal and a bottle of water, followed by a prize giving at The Pontardawe Inn (Y Gwachel).
