The Cluj Connect Run brings together the energy of the city and the beauty of nature in the heart of Transylvania. Every race starts and finishes in the Romulus Vuia Ethnographic Park in Cluj-Napoca, and the routes lead runners through iconic green areas, including the legendary Hoia-Baciu Forest and the scenic banks of the Somes River. The 21K half marathon covers 20.7km with roughly 505m of climbing and 505m of descent, and runners have five hours to complete it. Two aid stations support participants out on the course, and this distance is capped at 500 runners.

The route is a mix of parkland paths, forest trails and riverside tracks. Runners spend time in the Hoia-Baciu Forest and along the banks of the Somes River, so expect a varied surface rather than a flat city road course.
Most visitors base themselves in central Cluj-Napoca, where hotels, guesthouses and apartments sit within walking distance of the old town and a short journey from the start area. Booking well ahead is wise for an October race weekend.
Yes. The start and finish in the Romulus Vuia Ethnographic Park give supporters a comfortable base, and the green corridors through the city mean there are spots along the way to cheer runners through. Public transport and walking are the easiest ways to move between viewing points.
The event goes ahead in normal autumn conditions, so come prepared for cool and possibly wet weather in Cluj-Napoca in October. Any decision to alter or cancel the race because of severe conditions would be communicated by the organisers, so keep an eye on the official website and social channels.
The 21K Half Marathon has a mountain level of 2 on the ITRA scale, so there are climbs and descents rather than a pancake-flat route. Training on rolling trails and forest paths will stand you in good stead.
