The Chianti Ultra Trail by UTMB takes runners through the hills of Tuscany's Chianti area, where paths wind between vineyards and historic castles. The event offers five distances, from a 10K wine run to the 123K Ultra Trail Chianti Castles, so runners of different experience levels can take part on the same weekend. Terrain is trail-based and the climbs are substantial on the longer routes, with elevation gain ranging from 400 metres on the shortest race to 5200 metres on the longest. Each race carries UTMB World Series Running Stones, and the top finishers of the 123K UTCC race earn a Golden Ticket for the Western States Endurance Run.
