The Catania Marathon starts and finishes at Lido Verde on Viale Kennedy, and the whole course stays on the coast, with closed roads underfoot the entire way. Runners cover a completely flat circuit beside the sea: one lap for the 10.5K, two for the half marathon and four for the marathon. The route runs in the shadow of Mount Etna, and race day turns La Playa into a sports village with music, cheering stands and entertainment for athletes, families and spectators. With its flat, flowing profile and the warmth of the crowd, the event suits runners chasing a personal best as much as those tackling a first marathon.
