Byløpet is a city running event held in Skien, in the Telemark region of Norway, and the 2027 edition takes place on Saturday 5 June. Runners can choose between a half marathon of just over 21 kilometres and a shorter 5 kilometre race, so both newcomers and more experienced road runners have a distance to aim for on the same day. Both distances are run in and around Skien itself, with the town acting as the base for the whole event. Entries, start times and any last minute changes are published by the organisers on their own website, which should be checked before travelling.

Other questions
The page does not set out a distance change policy. As a rule, email the organisers before race day and ask, since switching is often possible while entries are still open but may not be on the morning itself.
It is a city race with a half marathon on the programme, which makes it a reasonable target for someone who has built up to the distance in training. Read the course information on the organiser's website and compare it with what you have run before, then decide between the half marathon and the 5 km.
Start times for 2027 are confirmed on the organiser's website. As a general guide, aim to be in Skien centre around an hour to 75 minutes before your start so you have time to collect your number, drop a bag and warm up without rushing.
Skien has its own railway station with connections along the Vestfold and Sørland lines, as well as regional bus services. Travellers coming from Oslo or Kristiansand can plan the trip with the national journey planner at entur.no.
Bag storage, changing facilities and toilets are practical details the organisers usually publish close to race day. Check https://bylopet.no/ for the 2027 arrangements.
