The Buchlyvie 10k is a small community trail race organised by the village of Buchlyvie in Stirlingshire and run under UK Athletics rules with a Scottish Athletics licence. The out-and-back course leaves from behind the primary school, follows Station Road for just over half a mile and then turns onto the old railway track, a predominantly flat firetrack surface with only one hill. The halfway turning point sits at Barbadoes Cottage, where jelly babies and water are handed out, and the return leg brings runners back to the school to finish. Registration takes place in Buchlyvie Village Hall from 11am, the race starts at 1.30pm, and the day closes with refreshments, home baking and a prize giving at around 2.30pm. The route is exposed in January and wind chill can be a major factor, with first aiders, marshals and the Lomond Mountain Rescue Team on hand throughout.
