The Brecon to Cardiff Ultra is a 43 mile, fully marked, point-to-point trail race that follows the River Taff from the heart of Bannau Brycheiniog (the Brecon Beacons) National Park to the outskirts of the Welsh capital. Runners set off among dramatic mountains, waterfalls and reservoirs before the landscape opens into valleys shaped by Wales's industrial heritage. Now in its 13th year, the race has become a classic of the UK ultra calendar and sells out year after year. The route is flagged throughout with checkpoints, distance markers and first aid, a route map comes with the entry, and GPS tracking follows each runner across the course.

Other questions
The event is listed as beginner-friendly and suited to average fitness, and it sells out year after year with a wide range of runners on the start line. That said, 43 miles of mountain and trail terrain is a long day out, so most entrants build up through shorter ultras or marathon-distance trail races first.
Yes. Bag transfer is offered, and secure bag storage is available at the finish venue, so you can send a dry bag and warm layers from the start to meet you at the end of the race.
The finish venue at Coleg y Cymoedd Nantgarw Campus offers toilets, changing facilities, showers, a cafe and a restaurant, making it easy to clean up and eat before heading home.
Every runner is GPS tracked for the duration of the race, so friends and family can follow progress along the point-to-point route and see roughly when to expect you at the finish.
The listing does not publish a mandatory kit list, so check the organiser's race instructions before the event. Given the mountainous terrain, the February date and the exposed upland sections, full waterproof cover, spare warm layers, a phone and your own nutrition are sensible starting points.
