The Blackfoot Ultra 50 Mile is run on a 25 km loop of grass and dirt trails in the Blackfoot Lake area, roughly 45 minutes east of Edmonton, Alberta. Runners repeat the loop until the full 50 miles is covered, on ground that rolls constantly from the first kilometre to the last. Those endless short climbs have earned the course the nickname 'Death by 100 Hills'. The 2027 edition is the 25th running of the race, which has recorded more than 560 finishers since it began in 2003.

The race is based in the Blackfoot Lake area near Cooking Lake, Alberta, about 45 minutes east of Edmonton. The course itself is a 25 km loop on grass and dirt trails.
It is a hilly 25 km loop of entirely grass or dirt trail. There is nothing technical underfoot, but the ground rolls constantly, which is why the course has picked up the nickname 'Death by 100 Hills'.
The loop is 25 km and the race is 50 miles, so runners cover roughly three and a bit laps to reach the finish.
The race director is Gary Poliquin, and the contact address is [email protected].
No. The race is not ranking eligible and carries no IAU label, so it is a standalone trail ultra rather than a championship or points-scoring event.
