BIWAKO Cross Country 2027 brings together the 38th All-Japan Lake Biwa Cross Country Championships and the 12th National U17/U16/U15 Cross Country Championships on the cross country course at the Shiga Prefectural Kibo-ga-Oka Cultural Park in Yasu. The track runs entirely over natural turf and is regarded as one of the finest cross country venues in the country. Ten races follow one another through the day, from a 1km elementary school race and 2km junior high school races up to the 8km senior events and a mixed relay in which two men and two women each run 2km. Senior races are split between JAAF-registered and general divisions, junior and elementary races are divided by school year, and the national age-group titles are decided over 3km, 2km and 1.5km. Bibs and timing chips arrive by post in mid to late January, so there is no race-day registration and athletes simply report to their own start point ten minutes before the gun.
