The Challenge des Templiers is a competition within each race for the fastest man and woman to reach the Pierre des Templiers (3 km from the start, 180m elevation gain).
The course runs over volcanic rocks (andesite, cinérite) on the Biot Volcano, a protected Natura 2000 site. The terrain includes private lands open only for the event, featuring a 'Little Mexico' landscape with succulents and cacti.
It is a steep climb (average 25% gradient) leading to the finish through the medieval village of Biot, part of the famous Foulées Biotoises.
