BigWayRound - Winchester

BigWayRound Winchester sends runners out from Winchester Rugby Club onto a fully marked and marshalled trail circuit around the city, with four distances on offer: 14 miles, 19 miles, a marathon and a 50K ultramarathon. The ground underfoot mixes riverside paths with chalk downland tracks, taking in the Itchen Navigation, St Catherine's Hill, Cheesefoot Head and stretches of the South Downs Way, the Allan King Way, St Swithun's Way and the Itchen Way, with paths beside the River Itchen running past Avington Hall. Runners set off in self-seeded waves based on running pace, and the day is chip timed with fully stocked aid stations, on course photographers and bag drop tents at the start and finish. Every finisher receives a bespoke medal or can choose to plant a tree instead, and cut off times range from four hours on the 14 mile course to eight hours on the 50K.
