The Bertlich February Road Runs take place on the roads around Bertlich, a district of Herten in Germany's Ruhr region. Six distances are offered on the same day, from a short 5km up to a full marathon, so the event works equally well as a fast winter training outing or a longer race effort. The courses run on paved roads and paths through the surrounding suburban and rural landscape, with the longer distances covering multiple loops and passing through the aid and refreshment points set up by the host club. Runners can expect a low key, club style atmosphere with limited field sizes and straightforward organisation.

Yes. Road races of this kind are easy to watch from the roadside near the start and finish area, and the shorter distances give spectators several chances to see runners pass.
