Set on the North East of Scotland's most prominent hill, the Bennachie Ultra Trail Race starts and finishes at the Bennachie Visitor Centre near Pitcaple and takes in some of the best trails the hill has to offer. The 17.5 mile off-road route climbs more than 3,300 feet as it visits the summits of Hermit Seat, Oxen Craig, Little Oxen, Craigshannoch and Mither Tap. Race day begins with registration from 6.30am at the Visitor Centre and an 8am start, and runners must carry minimum Scottish Hill Runners kit for the entire race, with kit checks expected. The race is cupless, so runners carry their own bottles or cups to be filled at the water stations, and it is followed by refreshments, a medal and a goodie bag at the Visitor Centre.
