The Arc 20K runs a 22.1 km loop from Perranporth Airfield, following the South West Coast Path south through St Agnes to an aid station at Porthtowan before turning inland and climbing back north over St Agnes Beacon to the airfield. The ground is coastal footpath, grassy cliff tops and stepped climbs and descents, with 744 m of ascent over the circuit and wide Atlantic views throughout. Runners set off at 11:00 on Sunday 24 January 2027 and have four hours to complete the course. It is a semi-autonomous event with medical cover at strategic points, so runners carry their own mandatory kit and only participants may access the aid station.

Other questions
No. The Arc of Attrition by UTMB is a semi-autonomous, self-sufficient event with aid stations and medical cover at strategic locations, and no personal assistance is allowed at any point along the route or during the race. Only participants may access the aid station. Because of the extent of the course, the likelihood of fatigue and the time of year, the organisers strongly advise arranging for someone to meet you at the finish who can drive you home.
The route follows an existing waymarked National Trail with some course waymarking, so it is suitable as a first coastal trail challenge. That said, runners are recommended to have previous trail running experience and to be comfortable with coastal path conditions, including climbs and descents with multiple steps. The cliff path is undulating and the terrain can be difficult, steep and arduous in places.
Yes. The Arc 20K is described as the perfect way to experience the magic of Arc of Attrition by UTMB and is designed for runners taking on their first coastal trail challenge, as well as those looking for a fast and competitive race along the Cornish coastline. The scenic loop starts and finishes at Perranporth Airfield and takes in dramatic sea views and rolling coastal trails.
The race is the shortest of the Arc of Attrition by UTMB events held from 22 to 24 January 2027, alongside the Arc 100M, Arc 100K and Arc 50K. The 20K takes place on the Sunday of the weekend.
The race regulations are published at https://arcofattrition.utmb.world/regulations, and the registration conditions are also listed on the Arc of Attrition by UTMB website. Read both before entering.
