Overview

The half marathon follows a point-to-point route from Isaias Square in Amfissa down to the pier at Itea, dropping a net 170 metres over 21.097 km on good-quality asphalt. This year's renewed course passes through part of the Amfissa olive grove, the largest in the Balkans, before the final stretch runs along the seafront from Kirra to the Itea pier. The race is certified by AIMS and World Athletics and is part of the 5th Sterea Run. Runners start at 08:15, collect chip timing, a race bib and a technical t-shirt, and finish with a medal before the awards ceremony at 11:30.

Good-quality asphalt for the full 21.097 km, almost entirely descending, with a seafront section on the approach to Itea.

Route

Starts at Isaias Square in Amfissa and runs a point-to-point route with a net drop of 170 metres. Part of the course passes through the Amfissa olive grove, the largest in the Balkans, and the final stretch follows the coastline from Kirra to the pier at Itea, where the race finishes.

Getting There

Buses take runners from Itea pier to the start in Amfissa from 06:45, and return runners from the Itea finish back to Amfissa after the race.

Expo

Race pack and timing chip pickup at the Amfissa Cultural Centre (Isaias Square): Saturday 10/10 from 09:00 to 14:00 and from 17:00 to 21:00, and Sunday 11/10 until one hour before the half marathon start. On-site registration is accepted during those hours while t-shirts and chips last.

Race Day

Runner buses leave Itea pier for the Amfissa start from 06:45. The half marathon starts at 08:15 at Isaias Square and finishes at the Itea pier, with the advertised end time of 11:15. Bags for collection at the finish go on the bus parked 30 m from the start, at the corner of Gidogianni St and Salonon Ave. The awards ceremony takes place at 11:30.

Chip timingRace pack and timing chip pickup takes place at the Amfissa Cultural Centre at Isaias Square. The desk is open on Saturday 10 October from 09:00 to 14:00 and from 17:00 to 21:00, and on Sunday 11 October until one hour before the half marathon start.

Food after the finishRefreshments are provided during and after the race, with sponsor gifts also included.

ShuttleRunner buses run from Itea pier to the Amfissa start from 06:45 and back from the Itea finish to Amfissa after the race. Bags for collection at the finish travel on the bus parked 30 m from the start, at the corner of Gidogianni St and Salonon Ave.

Public transportThe course is point to point, so buses take runners from the Itea pier to the Amfissa start from 06:45. After the race, buses bring runners back from the Itea finish to Amfissa.

AccessibilityToilets, changing rooms and supervised bag storage are available at the Amfissa Cultural Centre, which also serves as the race pack and timing chip pickup point.

Aid stationsAid stations along the course offer water, isotonic drinks, cola, nuts and bananas. Water, isotonic drinks and bananas are also available at the start and finish, and refreshments are served after the race.

Before you enter

Minimum ageMen are divided into 18-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60+, while women are divided into 18-39, 40-49 and 50+. Trophies and medals go to the top three men and women overall and the top three in each age category, with overall winners excluded from the age category prizes.
