Other questions
Distance changes are normally handled by the organiser rather than through the online entry system. If you want to move up or down between the 26, 20, 13 and 7 mile routes, contact the race team as early as you can and they will tell you whether there is space and whether any price difference applies. Requests close once final start lists are prepared.
The 7 mile Tupton route is the gentlest option and is a reasonable first trail race, though it still includes uneven ground, mud and some climbing. The longer 26 and 20 mile routes include challenging climbs and technical descents and are best suited to runners with trail experience and a solid base of training.
Chesterfield, Matlock and Bakewell are all within easy driving distance of Ashover and have a wide choice of hotels, pubs and guesthouses. Staying nearby the night before means an easier early start for the 09:00 gun, and it also lets you recce part of the course the day before.
The race runs through open countryside and exposed higher ground, so wind, rain and low cloud can make conditions harder than expected. Bring extra layers and follow any instructions from marshals about route changes. If the organiser has to alter or cancel the event for safety reasons, they will contact entrants and post updates on their website and Facebook page.
Yes. Supporters can base themselves at Ashover Village Hall for the start and finish and walk out onto the surrounding lanes and footpaths to cheer runners. The figure-of-eight layout means several parts of the course sit close to the village, so it is easy to see runners more than once.
