The Brighton Half Marathon starts and finishes on Hove Lawns on the seafront, sending runners east past Brighton Pier and out towards Ovingdean along Marine Drive and the bracing cliff tops. After a sharp turn before the Greenways Roundabout the route returns west into the city, sweeping past St Peter's Church, the tree-lined perimeter of The Level and the Royal Pavilion before turning onto the Kingsway. From there runners pass Brighton Pier and head into Hove between cream Regency architecture and the sea, finishing with two miles past the colourful beach huts and a final dash to the Prom. The course is run entirely on road and is notably flat, which makes it a firm favourite for personal bests. Around 10,000 runners take part, cheered on by large crowds in one of Britain's most running-enthusiastic cities.
