Overview

The race starts and finishes at Stavros harbour on Donoussa, a small island in the Cyclades, and climbs straight from the waterfront to the Papas summit at 385m before dropping to Kalotaritissa. From there the course loops out to the Fanari lighthouse on the island's rugged north-east tip and returns, then takes a paved climb to 240m on its way to Mersini. A new final section for 2026 passes the beaches at Livadi, Vathy Limenari and Kedros before the last climb back to Stavros. Underfoot it is almost entirely mountain trail, with around 1,200m of ascent over 20km, and runners carry their own cup because no disposable cups are provided at the aid stations.

Mountain trail across a small Cycladic island, climbing from sea level to the 385m Papas summit, with rough rocky ground on the out-and-back spur to the Fanari lighthouse and a paved climb up to 240m on the way to Mersini. The closing kilometres pass three beaches before the final climb back to Stavros.

Route

The route runs in four sections. It starts at Stavros harbour and climbs to the Papas summit at 385m, which is a checkpoint, and continues on to Kalotaritissa. From Kalotaritissa the course loops out to the Fanari lighthouse on the island's rugged north-east tip, with a checkpoint at around km 8, and returns to Kalotaritissa. The third section climbs a paved road to 240m on its way from Kalotaritissa to Mersini. A new final section for 2026 goes by way of Livadi, Vathy Limenari and Kedros beaches before the last climb back to Stavros harbour.

Donoussa is a small Cycladic island reached by ferry; no event-specific transport information is published.

Race Day

The 20km starts at 09:00 on Saturday 10 October 2026 from Stavros harbour, where the race also finishes. Bib pickup includes verification of parental consent for entrants aged 15 to 17.

Public transportDonoussa is a small island in the Cyclades reached by ferry. The organisers do not publish travel arrangements, so book your crossing and your accommodation well ahead, as capacity on the island is limited on race weekend.
