Teams of five runners plus two reserves cover five relay sections through the streets of Chofu City in western Tokyo, with the divisions running 24km, 20km or 15km in total. Every leg starts and finishes at Amino Vital Field, which also hosts morning registration before the first runners set off. The tasuki passes from hand to hand at each relay point before the anchor leg brings the team home to the stadium. The 2027 edition is the 71st running of the race and also marks the 70th anniversary of the Chofu City Sports Association, bringing together local residents, people who work in the city and students, along with junior high school teams from Chofu and neighbouring areas.

The general men's, general women's, men 40 and over, and mixed divisions are open only to people who live, work or study in Chofu City. If you are entering because you work in the city, your main workplace must be in Chofu and you must have been based there since before 1 October 2026. Seasonal or one-off work does not count as working in the city.
The mixed division requires at least two women per team, and sections 2 and 4 must be run by women. Teams made up entirely of women are also welcome.
Entries run from 00:00 on 5 October 2026 to 23:59 on 19 November 2026. Entry closes early if the field fills up, even before the closing date.
You need a free RUNNET membership plus your login ID and password, so it is worth sorting these out before the entry window opens. The friends and family entry service cannot be used for this race.
