The 6th Komatsushima "Headwind" Half Marathon takes runners through the grounds of a Japan Self-Defense Forces base on the Komatsushima coast, a stretch of road that is normally closed to the public. The route follows the shoreline, so runners get long views over the water and the steady sea breeze that gives the race its name. The half marathon and the 10K both set off at 10:00 and finish at JA Aisai Ryokuchi, while a 2km Enjoy Run for adults, school pupils and parent-child pairs starts ten minutes later. A Run & Walk Stamp Rally that anyone can join runs alongside the main event. Race packs containing the participant guide, bib and timing chip are posted out about a week in advance, so there is no check-in on the day.
