Overview

The race starts and finishes at the Arta Runners' Club offices on the site of the former landfill on Peranthi hill, above the town of Arta. Runners follow forest roads and narrow paths across the hill, passing the Technical Schools path, the old Venetian cart road and the star-shaped Venetian fort at the summit, with views over the Arta plain and the Ambracian Gulf. The 22 km route links several circular sections around the hill and the village of Peranthi, while the 7 km course stays closer to the hospital ridge and the forest before returning to the club. Electronic chip timing, aid stations serving bottled water and isotonic drinks, a supervised baggage area and a commemorative medal for finishers are all part of race day, which begins with the 22 km at 10:00 and the 7 km at 11:00.

The practical side

Terrain

Forest roads, dirt trails and short asphalt crossings on Peranthi hill, with circular sections and a climb to the summit at the Venetian star fort.

Route

The 22 km route starts at the Arta Runners' Club offices on the former landfill site and heads towards the Arta to Antirrio national road along a forest road. After roughly 3 km on the forest road, runners emerge at the level of the Technical Schools, cross 100 m of asphalt and join the Technical Schools path. They follow the path, then cross the road that leads to the hospital and take the path below the hospital (Pappoudes), making a circular section before crossing the road again and joining the path with the machine-gun emplacements. After another circular section they come out onto the road towards Limini. At the firebreak they join the new path and follow it along the western side of Peranthi hill, with views over the Arta plain and the Ambracian Gulf. The route then follows an old cart road thought to date from the Venetian period and reaches the highest point of the hill, where a star-shaped Venetian fort stands. Runners descend towards the village of Peranthi and, at the point where the masts are, take the forest road in the direction of Limini. Leaving the forest road they cross the asphalt road to Limini and rejoin the path, this time on the eastern side of Peranthi hill, heading back towards Arta. At the Koudonotrypa cave they take the dirt road towards the fire lookout. The route continues on the path and finishes at the club offices at the old landfill site. Positive elevation gain: 630 m.

Sunday 29 November 2026: race number collection at the start area until 08:45, 22 km starts at 10:00 and the 7 km starts at 11:00.

Finisher medalYes. Both races are supported by an electronic timing system, and finishers receive a commemorative medal. Running outside the competition is not allowed, and runners or walkers without timing and a commemorative medal cannot be accommodated once the maximum field is full.

Finisher certificateNo. The organisers do not ask any runner for a medical certificate and all participants take part entirely at their own risk. A medical check before the race is recommended. Minors compete under the responsibility of their guardians.

Food after the finishBottled water and isotonic drinks are available at the finish as well as at the support stations.

PrizesThe first three men and the first three women are awarded, along with the age categories up to 29, 30-39, 40-49 and 50+.

ResultsAfter processing by the timing team, the official results of all finishers are announced on the organiser's website.

Aid stations · 4The 22 km has four support stations serving bottled water and isotonic drinks, with refreshments also at the finish. The 7 km has one intermediate support station with bottled water. Waste collection points are placed along the whole route and especially at the support stations.

Before you enter

Time limitYes. The 22 km has a 240 minute (4 hour) limit and the 7 km has a 90 minute limit. After that time runners continue at their own risk without support from the organisers.

Collecting your numberOn Saturday 28 November 2026 between 10:00 and 18:00, in a dedicated area set up by the organisers in Arta's central square, and on race morning, Sunday 29 November 2026, at the start area outdoors until 08:45.
