Overview

The trail division is open to junior high school students and older who are confident of finishing inside the time limit. Entrants run the mountain section of the course, which includes checkpoints, and must be self-reliant on the mountain terrain.

Terrain

Mountain trail through the Kahadakyō gorge area of Matsusaka, mixing forest paths, ridge sections and mountain track on the way to Mezurashi Pass and Mount Tsubonegadake.

Route

Runners set off from Miyamae Elementary School and follow the trail into the Kahadakyō countryside past Mezurashi Pass, a historic site linked to an old provincial boundary legend, and Mount Tsubonegadake, the first peak of the Matsusaka Kahada Eleven, before returning to the school to finish.

Race Day

Registration and bib collection at Miyamae Elementary School from 8:30 to 9:30, opening ceremony at 9:30, trail division start at 10:00 and jogging division start at 10:10. Award ceremony follows the finishes, with overall and age-category prizes in the trail division.

Recovery

The day-trip natural hot spring Iitaka-no-Yu near the venue offers free entry to participants, and the Michi-no-Eki Iitaka roadside station has local restaurants serving Matsusaka beef and regional dishes.

PrizesThe trail division awards the top five men and women overall plus first place in each age category (under 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and 70+). The jogging division has no ranking awards.

Before you enter

RefundsNo refunds are given, including in the case of cancellation.

TransfersEntries can be transferred to another runner through the Yuzureru system. The transfer window runs from 00:00 on 26 October 2026 to 23:59 on 26 January 2027 and opens after the entry deadline or once the field is full.

If the race is cancelledThe participation commemorative gift is still handed out, but entry fees are not refunded. The organiser can also stop the race or change the course mid-event if weather or surrounding conditions make it unsafe.

Minimum ageYes. The jogging division is open to elementary school students and older, and the trail division is open to junior high school students and older.

Time limitThe 14km trail division has a 3 hour 45 minute limit with checkpoints on the course, and the 5.5km jogging division has a 1 hour 30 minute limit.

Collecting your numberRegistration and bib collection take place at Miyamae Elementary School from 8:30 to 9:30 on race morning. The opening ceremony follows at 9:30 and the races start at 10:00 and 10:10.
