Runners gather in front of the Ichikawa Town Sports Center for a morning of road racing across six divisions, from a 10 km main event down to a 1.5 km jog for the youngest entrants. The courses use the town's paved roads and stay gently graded rather than climbing, with the 10 km giving up only about 57 m between its highest and lowest point. Number cards and timing chips are posted out in advance, so there is no athlete reception on the day: competitors arrive ready, warm up and line up for starts that are spread from 09:10 through to 10:15. After the racing, a raffle hands out local Ichikawa Town produce, and every entrant takes home a commemorative short-sleeve T-shirt.
