Yes. The Berglauf Seelisberg is listed as a round of the Zentralschweizer Berglaufmeisterschaft, the Central Swiss mountain running championship.
Very hard for its distance. The course gains 1,136 metres over 9.2 kilometres with only 35 metres of descent, so it is essentially a continuous climb on mountain trail. Expect to be on your feet far longer than you would be over the same distance on the road.
The route follows mountain trail and alpine pasture with a sustained climb, so trail shoes with good grip are the sensible choice. Road shoes will struggle on the steeper, rougher sections.
The climb to the Alp Lauweli is on mountain terrain, so spectators usually watch the start area at the Rütli or walk up to the finish. Allow plenty of time for the walk and check the weather before setting out.
