Overview

Oizumi Ryokuchi Park in Sakai, south of central Osaka, hosts the 43rd edition of this New Year marathon on 10 January 2027. Five distances are on offer, from a 2km race for primary school children up to a half marathon, and every race starts and finishes beside the park's Sports House. The half marathon goes off last at 11:50 with a 2 hour 40 minute limit, while the shorter races set off through the morning from 09:30. Entries include an original T-shirt, a record certificate and sports injury insurance arranged by the organiser, with aid stations serving sports drink, water and hot orange, and full results published on the official website within a few days.

Races are divided by gender and by age group, from high school students through to runners aged 80 and over. The 3km race is for middle school pupils and the 2km race for primary school pupils. Wheelchairs are not permitted. Runners who need assistance may take part with a guide runner, and the guide enters free of charge.

Race Day

Opening ceremony at 09:20. Number collection runs from 08:30 until 15 minutes before each start, beside the Sports House in Oizumi Ryokuchi Park. Final start times are published on the official website about a week before the race.

RefundsEntry fees are not refunded, including in the event of a weather cancellation.

TransfersEntries can be passed to another runner through RUNNET's Yuzureru transfer service between 7 August 2026 and 6 December 2026. The transfer service opens after the main entry period closes or once the field is full.

If the race is cancelledIf the organiser cancels because of snow, an earthquake or an issued weather warning, the participation prize is posted out but entry fees are not refunded.

Minimum ageThe 3km race is for middle school pupils and the 2km race for primary school pupils, with separate boys' and girls' categories. Both cost 2,000 yen and have no time limit.

Collecting your numberNumber collection is beside the Sports House in Oizumi Ryokuchi Park. The desk opens at 08:30 and closes 15 minutes before the start of your race.
