The Matsubara Marathon is a community road race held in the Amami-Nishi district of Matsubara City in Osaka Prefecture. Reception, the opening ceremony and the start all take place at Matsubara Municipal Amami-Nishi Elementary School, while the finish line sits at Amami-Nishi Sports Ground a short distance away. Runners choose between 10 km, 5 km and 3 km, with the shortest distance split into middle school, elementary school and an all-ages health marathon that is decided by how close a runner finishes to a standard time announced on the day. The course passes through the Imaike Mizu Mirai Green Space, known for its Rainbow Plaza, and along the left bank levee of the Yamato River, giving the field an open, autumn riverside setting. The day runs from a short registration window at 8:00 through a brief opening ceremony, with the first race away at 9:00.
