The 40th Ueda Battlefield Half Marathon takes its name from the Uedahara Battlefield, the ground where the Battle of Uedahara was fought between Kai Province's Takeda Shingen and northern Shinano's Murakami Yoshikiyo. The 2026 edition is held on 12 October in Ueda, Nagano Prefecture, and the day brings together a half marathon, a 10km race and shorter 1.6km Challenge and Family Runs, so runners of all ages have a distance to aim for. Entries are made through Runnet, and anyone driving to the event uses a designated participant car park that sits about a 15 minute free shuttle bus ride, or a 10 minute walk, from the start venue.

The Family Run covers 1.6km and is entered as a pair, with the ¥2,000 fee covering both runners. It is a relaxed way for an adult and a child, or two family members, to take part in the same event day as the longer races.
October in Ueda averages around 11°C to 21°C, with roughly 8 hours of sunshine a day, about 4.3mm of rain and light breezes of around 7.5 km/h. Humidity sits near 78% and the UV index is moderate, so a light layer for the morning and sun protection for the middle of the day work well.
Ueda and the surrounding Nagano area have hotels and guesthouses within easy reach of the start, and accommodation can be booked for the night before and the night of the race. Staying locally makes the early start far less stressful than travelling in on the morning.
