The Klewenalp Trail runs through the alpine ground above Beckenried in the Nidwalden Alps, with three courses of 11, 26 and 43 kilometres and almost exactly matching climbs and descents on the two longer ones. On the T43 runners cover 2,849 metres of ascent and the same again in descent over technical, high-alpine trail with views from the Haldigrat and the Niederbauen, while the T31 loops across the Klewenalp with the Haldigrat in sight and the T11 gives a shorter first taste of trail running. The surface is mountain trail throughout, and the day is built around a single start date on 8 August 2027. The 11K welcomes runners, walkers and hobby athletes alike, so the event spans a wide range of ambitions on the same mountain.

Other questions
The T43 is a technical, alpine trail run of 43 kilometres with views from the Haldigrat and the Niederbauen. The T31 is a loop across the Klewenalp, also with the Haldigrat in view. The T11 is the shortest option and is aimed at anyone wanting to discover trail running.
Yes. Alongside competitive runners, the T11 explicitly welcomes runners out for enjoyment, walkers and hobby athletes. The 11 kilometre course with 617 metres of climbing works well as a first step into trail running.
At this altitude the weather can change quickly, and thunderstorms or strong wind can lead to course changes or cancellation. The organiser informs entrants through its own channels in that case. If the forecast is uncertain, it is worth checking the event page on the morning of the race.
The event page gives no information on transfers, refunds or deferrals. Questions of that kind are best put directly to Verein Klewenalp-Trail at [email protected].
Spectators are welcome. The Klewenalp is easily reached by cable car from Beckenried, and the courses around the Klewenalp and the Haldigrat pass several spots with wide views over Lake Lucerne. The mountain railway is usually the easiest way for spectators to get around.
