The race starts at Milford Common and sends runners out across Cannock Chase to visit five checkpoints in a set order before returning to the finish at Milford Common. The ground underfoot is a mix of forest singletrack, sandy climbs and open heathland, and each climb is rewarded with panoramic views from a trig point at the top. Runners navigate themselves, choosing their own lines between checkpoints and recording each one with an SI dibber. Registration takes place at Milford Hall Cricket Club, where free refreshments, changing rooms and showers are waiting after the finish.
