The Okinawa Marathon starts and finishes at the Okinawa Comprehensive Athletic Park in Okinawa City on 21 February 2027, on a Japan Association of Athletics Federations certified road course. Runners pass views of the World Heritage-listed Katsuren Castle ruins and, uniquely in Japan, a section inside the U.S. Kadena Air Base, while crowds line almost the whole route. Nine aid stations serve local specialties from nine municipalities. A 10km road race runs alongside the marathon, and the Okinawa Mini Marathon over 4.2195km plus the Chubu Kwacchi feast festival take place the day before.
