Runners set off from the 2nd Indoor Gym of Elefsina "Panagiotis Vogiatzis" and follow a fully paved, point-to-point route to the "Megareon Olympionikon" Municipal Stadium in Megara, retracing the journey of the ancient traveller and geographer Pausanias from Elefsina to Megara. The ground underfoot is road the whole way, with only small elevation changes and long straights, so the course stays approachable for runners of every level. Five refreshment and water stations sit at 5, 8, 10.5, 14 and 17 km, medical support is present along the route, and electronic chip timing is used. Race numbers are collected on race day at the start in Elefsina, clothing left at the start is carried to the finish stadium, and buses bring runners to the start from central Athens, Piraeus and Megara before return services after the finish.
