Teams gather at a special start and finish area built beside the Umitamago aquarium, on a stretch of Oita coastline squeezed between Mount Takasaki and Beppu Bay. Runners link a tasuki sash over a seafront loop of roughly 2 km, with the 20 km relay covering ten laps and the 10 km relay five. Shorter divisions use circuits of about 1 km, with a new 5 km costume race and a 3 km family event for one elementary school child and their guardians. The day runs entirely on surfaced roads around the aquarium grounds, and the first division starts at 10:00 after a 9:00 reception.

A participation notice is emailed to the team representative about two weeks before race day. On race morning bring the participation notice included with the event information to reception by the designated time.
