The Aomori Sakura Marathon starts among the cherry blossoms of Nogiwa Park and finishes at Aoi Umi Park on Aomori's waterfront, a short walk from Aomori Station. The course is almost entirely flat, with the Aomori Bay Bridge providing the only real rise of around 20 metres and wide views across Mutsu Bay. Runners choose between a full marathon, a half marathon and a 10km, all run on certified road courses with wave starts to spread the field. Finishers are given a towel, and every entrant receives a chip-timed athlete bib and commemorative T-shirt by post before race day.
