The 2026 Marine Corps Marathon with Girls on the Run combines a place in the Marine Corps Marathon with support for a youth running charity. Girls on the Run works with girls in grades three to eight through an after-school curriculum that blends running with lessons on confidence, empathy and self-advocacy, and the season closes with a celebration 5K in which every girl runs at her own Happy Pace. Runners who want to do more can join the SoleMates fundraising team, which comes with exclusive swag and a community of like-hearted athletes. It is an entry into the Marine Corps Marathon that supports Girls on the Run, an after-school programme for girls in grades three to eight. The programme pairs running with a research-based curriculum covering confidence, fitness and life skills, and it finishes with a celebratory 5K at the end of the season.
Girls on the Run is an after-school program for girls in 3rd to 8th grade. It uses a research-based curriculum that blends fun, exercise and meaningful lessons so girls can build confidence, improve their fitness and explore topics like emotions, empathy and self-advocacy in a safe, non-judgmental space.
The 5K is the grand finale of the Girls on the Run season. Every participant runs at her own Happy Pace and crosses the finish line, giving her the confidence that comes from completing something big.
A SoleMate is a runner who combines their own training and racing with fundraising for Girls on the Run. SoleMates receive exclusive swag, strong support from the organisation and a place in a community of like-minded athletes raising money to power the programme's mission.
All Marine Corps Marathon Weekend participants must attend Packet Pick-Up within the MCM Health & Fitness Expo at the Building Museum to obtain the official bib with timing device and technical competitor shirt. It runs October 22nd and October 23rd, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., and is not available on event morning. Runners select a time slot via their race bib confirmation email and must bring their e-Card and a photo ID.
