The marathon runs on a flat, JAAF-certified course on the Arakawa riverbed with a generous seven-hour limit, which is why the finish rate is very high. Intermediate cutoffs apply at 3 hours 30 minutes and at the 38.6km point at 6 hours 30 minutes. Entrants are 19 or over, in either the JAAF-registered or the general division.
