The 2026 Food Valley Tokachi Marathon takes over central Obihiro on a Sunday in late October, with a JAAF-certified half marathon as its centrepiece. Half marathoners leave the city centre in front of the Nissendai Building, pass along Shirakaba-dori, then thread through the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Obihiro garrison and beside Midorigaoka Park before finishing in front of Chuo Park. Shorter 5 km and 2.5 km races, a parent and child division and two wheelchair courses fill out the morning, with the opening ceremony at 8:20 and the first start at 8:30. Bibs and timing chips are posted out in mid-October, so there is no number collection desk on race day. Every finisher receives an original towel and a 550 yen voucher to spend at the venue's food stalls, and a prize draw offers sponsor goods.
