Kudoyama World Heritage Marathon takes place in the town of Kudoyama in Wakayama Prefecture, on a road course that starts and finishes at the west end of the Kudoyama Kaki no Sato Bridge. Adults choose between a half marathon and a 5km, while children race over 1km, 2km and 3km in separate age-group waves through the same streets. Race numbers, timing chips and participation T-shirts are posted out in advance, so there is no race-day reception, and the programme opens with a ceremony at 9:30 before the first children's wave at 10:30. Every finisher receives a towel, paid entrants also receive a T-shirt, and soup is served after the running, with awards down to sixth place in each category and a costume idea prize in the half marathon and 5km.
