The Lago Maggiore Marathon sets off from Arona at 09:00 and runs along the Piedmont shore of Lake Maggiore. The marathon, the 33 km and the 10 km all finish at Verbania, while the half marathon is the only race to close at Stresa. The route follows roads and lakefront stretches between the towns on the western shore, in the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola province, on a November Sunday.

Other questions
Yes. The route passes through several lakeside towns and the local rail line makes it easy to move between Arona, Stresa and Verbania to see runners at more than one point.
The 10 km suits runners after a short, quick race. The half marathon takes you to Stresa and is the classic choice for a 21 km. The 33 km and marathon both close at Verbania and need a longer build-up.
The course runs on roads along the lake with no technical difficulty stated. Anyone running a first marathon should still factor in November weather and a proper training plan.
November is cool and changeable, with mist often sitting on the lake in the morning. A light waterproof layer and gloves for the start are worth packing.
