The Evrotas Run returns for a thirteenth year on the plain of the Evrotas river in Laconia, with every race starting and finishing on Peristeri Square in the village of Peristeri. The 21 km route is a single circular lap that threads through Peristeri, Filisi, Agios Georgios, the Evrotas bridge, Skala, Leimonas, the second Evrotas bridge, Elos and Vlachioti before heading back to the square, while the 10.6 km and 5 km races are out-and-back courses that turn at Skala and at the fourth kilometre respectively. Almost the entire course sits on flat roads with no climbing, and the organisers describe the 21 km as a course built for a personal best. A 1 km lap of the village gives children of all ages, and their parents, their own race, and the day is run in a festive Christmas mood. The event is held under the auspices of the Municipality of Evrotas and EOLMA-Y, with medical cover and police support on the course.
